One of the whisky brands that receive a lot of attention is The Macallan. As a result, it occasionally may feel both overrated and, let's be honest, a touch pricey. There are The Macallan releases that really blow you away, which is a damn pity. Among them is the Macallan 18 Double Cask.

The Macallan 18's light mahogany shade is exquisitely traditional. It has a classy appearance and sets the bar high for the rest of the encounter. The ageing process naturally imparts this deep colour.

Sherry is more than just a faint aroma, thanks to the ageing process in sherry barrels. It has juicy red raspberries and strawberries as well as a vibrant, delicious flavour. A hint of toasted wheat bread, hot drawn butter, and oaky caramel can be detected. Perhaps you'll even smell cinnamon.

The nose has a velvety, smooth feel. It's a superb combination of tasteful sherry and nicely aged malt. You can add a few drops of water to it to create a fruit punch and tart candy apple-flavoured

There is a faint taste of cherrywood mixed with an oaky, furniture-varnish flavour up front. It has very minimal burn and is smooth. The refined medium mouthfeel is loaded with jams, dipped apricots in chocolate, and dried figs.

Pay attention to orange, clove, and spice as well. Water improves the nose but can muffle the flavours' purity and reduce their sharper notes.

Cigar tobacco, Dried cranberries, and cocoa nibs are present in the finish. A final burst of woodiness is present. You can focus on some ginger and orange zest.

Essentially, the Macallan 18 is outstanding because of its nose. It improves the overall experience. It's difficult to match the way the malt melds flawlessly with the sherry's exquisite scent. It is expertly calibrated to have the ideal weight without having any rotten fruit or excessive oak saturation.

Although the flavours are few, the texture oozes quality, and the finish exposes a traditional and superb flavour. This whisky's unique quality is its lack of water requirement. On its own, it is flawless.
